We enjoyed a trip to Kansas this weekend to see Nolan's family. Uncle Rod got the old tractor started on Thursday night for Blake to ride. Doesn't he look like he's having a good time on the farm? Thursday night was spent at Grandma and Grandpa Farwell's house enjoying time with Uncle Rod, Aunt Annie, Cousin Kenton and 'Bempa and Bempa' (Blake language for Grandma and Grandpa).
On Friday we spent some time visiting Blake's Great Grandparents and then headed to Topeka for our niece Nevaeh's 2nd birthday party at Chuckie Cheese. It was Blake's first time there and it was a little overwhelming at first but he had a good time.
Saturday morning at Grandma and Grandpa's we were surprised by the arrival of Nolan's sister and her family. We enjoyed spending some extra time with them and Blake enjoyed some play time with his cousin Malia. Saturday afternoon we went to a wedding of Nolan's high school friend Brett. Nolan enjoyed catching up with all of his high school buddies.
It's good to be back home tonight but it was sure a fun weekend. Proof of a fun weekend- Blake's bedtime tonight was 6:20 rather than his normal 7:30/8:00 bedtime. He was so worn out! =)

play dates
Throughout the last couple weeks we have enjoyed many play dates with different friends from church. Blake has enjoyed sprinklers, swimming, bubbles, chalk, painting... you name it! I have enjoyed time with friends, adult conversations, and some time out of the house.
Today we headed over to my friend Lynn's house for lunch. Lynn and her husband go to our church and have 2 sons that Blake enjoys playing with. Today we got out the paints! It was Blake's first time painting and he was a little hesitant about his hands being so messy. Next time I think we will try using a brush- I think he will enjoy it a little more.
As you can see in the next picture, Blake's friend Levi had no hesitations about painting! He had a great time!
No better way to wash off all of that paint than hopping in the pool!
Let's not forget about Brenna! She is 5 weeks old today and growing, growing, growing. As you can see, she is eating well! I love those chubby little cheeks. She continues to be a very good baby. Isn't she just the cutest? =)

brotherly love
I took this video a few days ago. Blake sure loves his little sister. The first person he wants to see in the morning is 'BO!' (Brenna) and he loves to give her kisses and help me burp her after she eats. He has done so well adjusting to having someone else in the house taking the attention away!
Brenna will be 4 weeks old tomorrow- can you believe it? She is growing like crazy and still sleeping very well. On a typical night she will sleep from about 10:30 to 4:30, then will fall back asleep after eating until about 8. No complaints there!

my poor garden
At the beginning of the summer, Nolan and I thought the biggest threat to our garden were the many rabbits that seem to be running around our neighborhood. So, to protect the garden we have been excited about since the end of last summer- we invested in a fence to put around our cherished vegetables.
Storms came through last night with some very strong wind and heavy rain, leaving us a nice little gift from our neighbors yard. An entire tree came down right into our garden, smashing our fence and many of our vegetables.
At this moment, Nolan and a neighbor from the other side (aka- the good neighbor) are cutting the tree up. We've had a few issues with the neighbors from which the tree came from, even having to call the city about their 4 foot tall grass- so we didn't expect them to clean the tree up themselves. Hopefully most of our garden can be salvaged and the fence can be repaired before the rabbits move in!

growing so fast
Brenna is about 2 1/2 weeks old today and is changing so much every day! She is spending more of her days awake and loves tummy time!
Her cheeks are really starting to fill out- chubby cheeks are on the way!
Yesterday was my first Wal-Mart trip with the 2 kids by myself. Brenna did great, but Blake had a difficult time. It was too close to nap time and he was a little grumpy. In the check out line, a woman came up and wanted to peek at Brenna who I was carrying in a front carrier. She peeked in and Blake immediately yelled, "NO!" He didn't want anyone around Brenna the entire time we were there. The first signs of a protective big brother? =)
Blake is learning to enjoy new foods. We were having some difficulty getting him to eat the same things we were eating at supper time but I think we are starting to turn a corner in that department. Last night he loved the meal that Aunt Becky brought for us- just look at that happy face!
